Protecting public spaces without creating an environment of fear is a key consideration for specifiers and architects. This is relatively straightforward for new projects, where decorative protective products can be built into the planning process from the start. However, for older, more historical buildings and areas, balancing safety and aesthetics can be challenging. The regeneration of the Grade II-listed Alhambra Theatre in Bradford aimed to modernise the building’s surroundings while creating an inviting and contemporary area for people to sit and enjoy.

Solution

To achieve this, a combination of Igneo benches and seats with Giove precious-stone planters was used. Selected in grey and black tones to blend perfectly with the area’s natural stone paving, these products' contemporary design and style help create an attractive and welcoming area to relax. These products can be specified to any length and with built-in security standards. Introducing RhinoGuard® to the Giove and Igneo planter ranges provides an elegant way to incorporate plants into an environment while also considering security. These measures ensure that the products can stop a 7.5-tonne vehicle travelling at 50mph, offering both safety and aesthetic appeal.
