Birse Rail faced a challenge with limited space to build a stairwell to the trackside and include a retaining wall to protect against the eroding embankment.

Solution

Marshalls Civils and Drainage provided a solution using their Redi-Rock modular walling. This allowed Birse Rail to achieve the necessary height for the stairwell to access the rail track while maintaining the strength needed to retain the embankment. The one-tonne Redi-Rock blocks interlock with each other and are dry laid, making them ideal for rail projects due to their fast installation times and cost savings.
