Situated in the serene countryside of Barnby Dun in Doncaster, a new, state-of-the-art crematorium has been built to provide exceptional service, facilities, and support for grieving families. With the existing facilities reaching their capacity, there was a crucial need to expand bereavement services, which prompted the construction of Memoria. The project aimed not only to expand capacity but also to offer a tranquil and comforting space for families during their difficult moments. Marshalls collaborated with the subcontractor MPave to create this beautiful and peaceful garden of remembrance, featuring a round pool surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens. Mark Talbot at MPave said, "It's been a pleasure collaborating on this project with Marshalls. A key consideration throughout the project was sustainability. As part of this project, Memoria used the UK's first electric cremator to minimise carbon emissions. Additionally, the use of Marshalls' products, including Lunar®, Keyblok®, and Tegula®, further reinforced the sustainability ethos of the project. These products are made in Britain, lowering the carbon footprint compared to overseas alternatives such as granite.

Inspired by the beauty of granite, the contractor selected the new modular Lunar® paving to create a unique concrete aesthetic that complements the crematorium's surroundings. Each block, utilising Lunar's® patented colour technology properties, contributes to the crematorium's distinctive character. The Rosa palette introduces a calming pink tone, enhancing the peaceful atmosphere of the garden of remembrance. With MaxiMix® Technology too, Lunar® paving offers enhanced durability and colour retention, resisting UV fading and weather damage.

For essential elements like entry roads and car park infrastructure, Marshalls' traditional Keyblok® paving was selected to ensure robustness and reliability. Additionally, in collaboration with Keyblok®, the aged-look Tegula® paving envelops the crematorium building, providing a complementary element to the entire facility.

Memoria Crematorium stands as a testament to thoughtful design and innovative paving solutions. The beautiful garden of remembrance, the distinctive aesthetics of the Lunar® Rosa paving and the dependable functionality of Keyblok® and grey Tegula® have all created a peaceful and serene environment.
