MOT Type 1

Our MOT Type 1 consists of graded aggregates, which ensure minimal voids in the sublayer when compacted. This makes it suitable for creating access roads and pathways.

This MOT type 1 product, also referred to as 6N or Adoptable Type 1, is most used where a load-bearing, stable layer is needed prior to a final layer of concrete, block paving, etc.

MOT Type 1 gets its name from the standards set out by the Ministry of Transport. It's made from crushed stone and concrete, typically including limestone, granite, and recycled aggregates up to 40mm in size.

Because it's a mix of fine and coarse particles, MOT Type 1 can be effectively compacted, making it a durable and solid sub-base for driveways, patios, and paths.
