Marshalls, the UK’s leading hard landscaping manufacturer, has strengthened its product team as it plans for Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) market growth over the next 12 months.

Roger Knight joins the business as Head of New Product Development and Engineering for Landscape Protection, and will lead a sharp expansion in the company’s HVM portfolio as it responds to an increase in market demand.

Prior to joining Marshalls, Roger spent five years as Engineering and Innovation Manager at ATG Access, where he was heavily involved with developing automated HVM security solutions for critical national infrastructure and utility companies.

Before this he was Operations Manager for APT where he assisted in developing the first UK crash test standards, PAS 68/69, with the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI).

Marshalls’ Landscape Protection product line consists of specially designed street furniture, which includes benches, planters, litter bins, cycle stands and bollards, manufactured to PAS 68/69 and IWA 14.1/14.2 standards. These are used to create safe, attractive spaces that protect the public, while integrating seamlessly into the surrounding environment.

Jaz Vilkhu, Managing Director for Landscape Protection at Marshalls, said: “Roger’s experience and expertise in developing innovative products will play a key role in building on the double-digit growth we achieved last year. The terrorist threat has evolved significantly over the past few years and an increasing number of organisations in the public and private sectors are starting to see the value in installing long-term, aesthetic solutions for protecting heavily populated areas.”

The FTSE 250-listed company works with public sector bodies and businesses to manufacture and recommend the right Landscape Protection products with the appropriate safety ratings. Marshalls employs approximately 2,500 people across the UK.
