The year nine students from Elland’s Brooksbank School in West Yorkshire, will be competing in the prestigious tournament at Richmond Athletic Stadium on Friday 28 August. The tournament coincides with the Challenge Cup final at Wembley stadium, where the Brooksbank pupils will do a lap of honour around the pitch.

The leading hard landscaping manufacturer is supporting the youth team through sponsorship of their kit.

Chris Churm from Marshalls said: “It’s a tremendous achievement by local school Brooksbank to reach the National Schools Rugby League final in London and to have the opportunity to parade around the Wembley pitch ahead of the most prestigious game in the Rugby League calendar.

“Marshalls has a long and proud association with Rugby League, having sponsored the professional Halifax club during the 1990s, and many colleagues actively represent leading local amateur clubs including Elland, Siddal, Ovenden, Brighouse Rangers, Greetland, Illingworth and King Cross.

“We’d like to wish the boys the best of luck in their final.”

Brooksbank pupil Riley Dean, aged 14, has recently been signed for a scholarship at Warrington Wolves and will be competing in the Champion Schools tournament with the team on Friday, he said: “This year we’ve won the Calderdale Cup and the Yorkshire Cup so it would be great to add to our national cup list.

“My brother Josh has won the Schools National Cup with Brooksbank three times so there’s a bit of rivalry between us at home.”

Oliver Lewis from Brooksbank School, also aged 14 will be travelling down to London to take part in the finals, he said: “I’m really looking forward to the tournament and for my family to watch me run round Wembley stadium before the big game. We’re all impressed with our quality kit from a quality sponsor, Marshalls.”

Both Riley and Oliver play for Siddal Rugby club who have just won the BARLA National Cup.
