Marshalls donated a memorial bench to the award-winning gardens at St George’s Crypt to celebrate the life of the late Manfred Baum. Manfred was the principal contractor in the redevelopment of the Crypt in 2010 and the running of St George’s Crypt Nurture Community Interest Company.
Nurture is a social enterprise which began in 2010, part of which is focused on training and engagement opportunities in horticulture for the homeless, vulnerable and those suffering from addiction.
The memorial bench, which Marshalls installed on 18 December, is a well-placed tribute within the garden of St George’s Crypt which has become an important living space for the residents since its creation.
Marshalls, the UK’s leading landscaping manufacturer, first donated paving for a walkway at St George’s Crypt in 2010. Since the project began, staff and residents have been taking care of the garden which has won a ‘Leeds in Bloom’ award and the ‘2012 RHS Britain in Bloom Young People’s Award’.
Chris Fields, CEO of St George’s Crypt said: “It is testament to our lasting partnership with Marshalls that the hard landscaping still looks good in a mature setting nearly five years on. The new gift of such a high-end, stylish bench and memorial plaque will just add the final finish to a wonderful project.”
