Marshalls has taken the ambitious lead by committing to the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi).

David Morrell Group Head of Sustainability stated “As we already see the benefit of reporting to CDP and being a signatory to the UN Global Compact we wanted to go beyond good intention and ensure our climate change targets are aligned to a solid programme.”

The first scoping exercise has been completed during 2018 and through 2019 it will develop its Science Based Target with the support of the Carbon Trust.  It is planned to have the target submitted to the SBTi and announced during 2020.

The Science Based Target Initiative is challenging business to act now to keep global warming below 2°C and preferably 1.5°C aligning with the Paris Agreement.
