Marshalls Street Furniture has launched a range of impact tested, counter-terrorist bollards as part of their new specialist high security ‘RhinoGuard’ range.

RhinoGuard bollards are available in a variety of standard sleeve designs in steel and stainless steel to complement any scheme. A fully bespoke design service is also available for bollards specified in Marshalls’ Ferrocast polyurethane material, enabling clients to specify bollards to match exact project requirements, providing a completely unique aesthetic.

The RhinoGuard range has been successfully crash tested in accordance with the BSI PAS 68 standard, providing proven impact performance at three distinct levels of protection and budget.

It is only through specifying products successfully tested to BSI PAS 68 that perimeter protection can truly be assured, however this does not mean that the highest specifications of PAS 68 security are always required.

Depending on site specific conditions, it is often not physically possible for larger vehicles to reach the required speeds to carry out an attack, in which case more cost effective levels of protection can be specified.

The RhinoGuard bollards are designed to fulfill the security needs of locations requiring very different levels of perimeter protection. This enables clients to design effective hostile vehicle mitigation measures into their schemes in proportion with the level of risk of an attack, the traversability of the surrounding landscape, the available ‘stand off distances’ and the overall project budget.

The RhinoGuard 15/30 was crash tested using a 1.5 tonne saloon car travelling at 30mph (48km/h) and is designed for areas which are either at lower risk of a high energy vehicle attack or where large vehicles are unable to gain sufficient speed or access.

The bollard is designed for a wide range of applications which previously would use a generic, un-tested ‘anti ram’ specification, including retail parks, garage forecourts and supermarkets, providing excellent protection against ram raiding criminals. With the RhinoGuard 15/30, these applications can now achieve guaranteed levels of protection, which were previously unquantifiable and left somewhat to chance.

The RhinoGuard 25/40 was successfully tested with a 2.5 tonne 4x4 vehicle travelling at 40mph (64 km/h). The bollard is ideal for sites at higher risk of an attack and where medium sized vehicles are able to reach considerable speeds, including; rail stations, sports stadia, shopping centres and the public realm.

The RhinoGuard 75/40 was tested with a fully laden 7.5 tonne 2 axle lorry, again travelling at 40mph (64 km/h). The bollard is ideal for high risk locations with sufficient stand off distances, where large vehicles capable of carrying out high energy attacks are able to gain considerable acceleration.
