Eden’s father Alex Warburton is a heavy goods driver for the company, and Marshalls wanted to get behind the Rastrick High School student after hearing of her success in the pool.

Claire Quinton-Tulloch, Head of PR & Communications at Marshalls said: “We are only too happy to support our employees. The company places a focus on healthy activities and family and whatever we can do for our workforce and their families, we will.”

“Alex is obviously very proud of Eden and Chris McLaughlin, who has been with the company for 42 years put her forward. He told me how talented she is and asked if there was anything we could do for her.

“Alex said: “I can’t thank them enough. Financially it is a big burden, but it is worth it. Any help is great but this is unbelievable. She is going to a swimming camp in Torremolinos in October so this will help towards that and she has some big meets and galas coming up this year.”

Eden’s coach Mark Lappin from Kirklees Active Leisure and Borough of Kirklees Swimming Club was also there to thank Claire and the company, he said: “We can also use this sponsorship to look at nutrition, development, physiology and psychology. With Marshalls on board we can help build a solid foundation for Eden.

“We are working towards the World Juniors, European Juniors and the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020. I would like to say a massive thank you to Marshalls as it is very rare these days for people to step up and help financially. With a world-class company behind us we can build a world-class environment for world class athletes.”

Eden who trains 10 times a week, spending 22 hours in the pool said: “Thank you to Claire. With this help and the new sports centre in Huddersfield nearly ready it will really play a big role in my progress.”
