Elves of a different kind have been working hard at Premier Mortars Ltd this Christmas to gather toys for underprivileged children in the North West.
Premier Mortars Ltd, one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of mortars, screeds, renders and ready mix concrete, is owned by leading landscaping company Marshalls and is based at its manufacturing site in Ramsbottom.
Donning their high-visibility jackets and hard hats, the staff at the concrete and mortar company, were collecting new, unwrapped toys to help deprived children to enjoy a happy Christmas.
The presents donated by the staff at Premier Mortars are now being distributed to charities across the North West meaning children who would otherwise have nothing to open this Christmas will receive a gift.
Smooth FM and Real Radio launched the ‘Toy Appeal 2013’ for the fourth year running this year in partnership with Lookers Citroen and MAX6MUM security. Some of the charities supported by the appeal include; Francis House, Wood Street Mission, The Together Trust, Derian House, Claire House, Barnardos, Alder Hey and Home Start.
Debra Rogers, Customer Service Manager at Premier Mortars, said: “We decided to take part in the appeal because many of us have children and grandchildren and felt it would be a kind gesture to give to those in greater need than ourselves. We collected a range of toys for girls and boys of all ages in the hope that we could help children look forward to a happy Christmas. Christmas is a happy time which no child should ever have to miss out on; this is something we believe passionately about at Premier Mortars.”
Striving to help the local community in any way they can, the staff at Premier Mortars are continually involved in a number of projects which help to support children, the elderly and families.
Some of their previous charity work includes donating mortar to BBC Children in Need’s DIY SOS build, selling badges and wristbands in aid of Brain Tumour Research, donating mortar and raising money for Claire House at the Clatterbridge Hospital on the Wirral for an extension to the children’s hospice and donating materials to the Stroke Association for a number of disabled access pathways.
