Due to the continued success of our precast operations, we are looking to recruit a Safety, Health and Environment Manager, based at our Pollington offices in Yorkshire.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the right person will have responsibility for Health and Safety and Environment issues across all areas of the business, including offices and factories. They will have 2 production based Health and Safety Co-ordinators reporting to them (based in Mells, Somerset and Pollington, Yorkshire).

Responsibilities will include:

• SH&E as detailed in the Marshalls Civils and Drainage Management Systems and Policy as signed and authorised by the Managing Director
• Responsibility for H&S over all areas of Business including offices and factories.
• To maintain and improve the standards of H&S performance, to set improvement targets and police compliance with the H&S Policy as defined by the Managing Director.
• To ensure compliance with current UK legislation
• Knowledge of relevant British Standards and Codes of Practice in line with your area of responsibility.
• Authority to stop any unsafe practice in the Company whilst working in close harmony with the Director of Operations
• Attend Operations, QS and H&S meetings as instructed by the Director of Operations.
• Maintaining compliance with the EPA licenses in force and Environmental Management Policy with an aim to achieve ISO 14001.
• Working with the Company to achieve a target of zero accidents
• To ensure the welfare of all Marshalls Civils and Drainage employees
• Attend industry seminars and trade events to gain vital knowledge on current affairs within the UK drainage sector.
• To attend sites and liaise with customers to discuss their H&S needs as required
• Budget control as directed by the Director of Operations
• To complete customer questionnaires relating to H, S & E.
• Visit and inspect all Marshalls Civils and Drainage sites as detailed and instructed of the Director of Operations
• Liaise with HSE as and when required
• Responsible for production of management reports on a monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc basis.
• To assist the business to identify trends and issues through analysis of data and proactively seek solutions

Key skills and attitudes to include:

• NEBOSH Diploma (Minimum requirement)
• 5 years’ experience in a Senior Health and Safety position in Manufacturing/Construction
• Experience in an Environmental role
• Computer Literate – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Prepared to travel between Marshalls Civils and Drainage locations – must hold a current UK driving licence
• Good communication skills at a senior level
• Knowledge of report writing
• Contribute to and deliver the Board strategy towards Safety, Health and Environmental goals in Marshalls Civils and Drainage
• To ensure efficient running of the H&S Department in line with KPIs set by the Director of Operations
• Committed to own CPD, updating personal knowledge in line with industry standards
• To be confident and able to design, write and present training material for employees.
