Following the acquisition of the Darney and High Nick sandstone quarries in Hexham, Northumberland just over 12 months ago, Stancliffe Stone, a Marshalls' Specialist Business, has now made significant investments in the sites.

The results are two extremely efficient quarries and a new, high capacity processing plant located at the Darney site.  With an automated traditional walling line already in place, installation of further processing capacity over the coming weeks will further expand production capabilities to include Ashlar walling and other sawn masonry components.

This additional processing capacity enables Stancliffe Stone to offer short lead times for these two striking buff sandstones for projects throughout the UK.

Michael Connor, Operations Director, Stancliffe Stone said “The investment in the Darney production site is part of our strategy of locating comprehensive processing facilities at all our UK quarry sites.  This will allow greater efficiencies throughout the production process and also contributes to our sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.  Processing at the quarry site minimises waste in terms of materials and transportation, resulting in movement of fewer loads overall from the quarry.  Speed of processing is also improved, resulting in greater flexibility and shorter lead times for our customers.”
