If the shape you want is not listed, you can pick a shape close to the one you want and edit it by dragging the nodes. You can also draw your own shape by using the Draw Shape tool.
It is not possible to combine shapes, but you can edit a shape to achieve the desired area. You may also use the Draw Shape tool to create a shape from scratch.
The dimensions of very short lines are not shown.
When drawing a square or rectangular shape, turning the Snap to Grid function on or off can help.
Note that dimensions in metres are rounded to two decimal places.
To achieve the best results for long and thin shapes, enter the longest dimension in the Length field and shortest dimension in the Width field.
Once you have drawn your area, you can select the Add Border, Add Feature or Change Paving button. This will allow you to navigate through the product menus again and select your desired product and laying pattern.
Multiple feature products can be added to a design, but it is not possible to add more than one paving or block paving product to your plan.
Paving Planner doesn't ask you to choose the colour of edging, kerb or feature products. Many of these products are available in a range of colours, but the colour doesn't affect which laying patterns are available or the quantity calculations.
Products with only one laying pattern will not show a choice and automatically be inserted into your design.
Once you have drawn your area and added a garden paving or block paving product you have the option to select Add Feature. This will bring up the product selection screen and you can easily select the feature you would like to add. Once selected, you can place the feature in the desired location on your plan.
To change the feature on your plan, touch in the feature area until it is highlighted. Once highlighted, touch the delete button. Now select the Add Feature button in the top navigation bar. This will then take you to the product selection screen.
It is possible to add more than one feature to your plan. Simply touch the Add Feature button and select another feature to add.
To delete the feature on your plan, touch in the feature area until it is highlighted. Once highlighted, touch the delete button.

No, only one product can be applied to a design.
For garden and block paving, the Paving Planner counts up every flag that is shown in your design. This includes the flags that stick out beyond the edge of the area you have drawn, and also the ones that meet the edge of another paving product (feature or border).
When you have chosen a paving product and laying pattern, it's a good idea to experiment with the position and rotation of the pattern and features with your design. You should aim for the best look possible, but try to minimise the number of flags that need to be cut. Unlike a paving installer, the Paving Planner cannot re-use any of the off cuts. So, by reducing the number of flags sticking out, you can help the tool give you a more accurate estimate of the amount of paving needed. The larger the product you are using, the more important it is to keep this in mind.
The Paving Planner should only be used as a design aid. The quantities shown are given as an approximation. Any patios with cuts need to be reviewed before purchasing any goods, to verify whether any of the cut products can be re-used in other positions.
