This particular blog post will offer guidance and advice on the best use of chemicals and acids during the cleaning process. The best advice we can offer when it comes to using such substances is to carefully read the manufacturer’s instructions and ensure that you strictly adhere to them.
When generally using chemicals and acid the following precautions should be taken.
- When using chemicals, protective clothing such gloves, boots and overalls should be worn.
- Adequate ventilation is required in confined spaces when using chemicals.
- When using any chemical, care must be taken not to damage, contaminate or stain any adjoining material.
- When diluting acids, ALWAYS add acid to water and not water to acid.
- Any clothing that is contaminated with chemicals should be disposed of safely.
- Care must be taken to protect personnel operating in the area of the cleaning from an injury or hazard created by the cleaning.
- Care must be taken in the disposal of any run off material.
